Storify Me

I have posted my Storify draft, but noticed after publishing it that the program randomly deleted pieces of my paper regardless of saving it multiple times throughout. I welcome any feedback you have in the meantime, but keep in mind that I will be trying to re-build the missing pieces.

Wish me luck.

  2. Hi Tara - What a bummer that this happened to you! Let me know if you need any help with using Storify as you re-build your page. It's a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it's a good tool for storytelling.

A few pieces of topline feedback for now:
    - The Background section should be about your personal credentials, while the Introduction should be about the course material and why you created the Storify page. I was a bit confused by this in the beginning but Prof. Van Dyke clarified in office hours on Tuesday.
    - If you have trouble uploading images to you Analysis section, the best thing to do is upload them to Flickr first. It takes a little bit longer but works well. It took me a while to figure it out.
    - I mentioned on my blog that Yandex.ru was a key driver to the site. Interesting to see that Russia is your number two audience. There might be a tie there.

    Good luck with retrieving everything!

  3. Kristen - thanks so much for your feedback and help. I'm going to make some more attempts to fix it tonight and will definitely incorporate your notes about the Background vs. Introduction sections. Appreciate it :)

  4. Hey Tara, did you use any other social media sites besides for Twitter and Facebook? You might want to mention Pinterest too. Another thing Professor Van Dyke touched on was the importance of SEO. Did you use any tagging or specific keywords to drive more traffic to your blog?

I really liked the analysis of your metrics. You might want to go more in depth about your audience. What are their interests, age groups, etc?

    Great job!

  5. Tara,

Nice start so far. Make sure you look at Dr. VanDyke's sample paper to see more info on what the introduction and background should be (I think Kristen mentioned this also). Lots of time to work on it, and not sure if those are the sections that got deleted for you. That definitely stinks!

I see you have week three and week six in your activities section, but make sure to include week four, also. You may want to include your activities as discussion leader this week, too, since your Storify link is on your blog and we're still engaging in discussion with you!

    1. Funny, those are all the sections that got wiped out LOL!

Good point about included the Discussion Leader piece - I hadn't initially thought to include that, but I should since I used Twitter and Facebook Group to promote our assignment activity.

      Thanks!

    2. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have your work disappear on you like that!

  6. Tara,

Sorry to see that you lost parts of your paper. I also had some troubles when creating my first draft, but it looks like everything saved correctly. I know that you still have to load in some of the images that were lost. You may want to take a look at doing some screen shots of your blog, saving them in Flicker and then uploading them to Storify. I found the screen shots to be a little more visually appealing than the Goggle+ images.

I am sure that you know this, but it looks like the Introduction part is missing. This is a good opportunity to let your readers know a little more about you. Adding some images of your Facebook and Twitter posts will also help bring more life to your paper.
